The piece is one of Moore's earliest monumental public sculptures, and is on long-term loan from the foundation. The U.Va Art Museum has recently installed Moore's 'Seated Woman' (1958-59) as the centerpiece of its newly renovated front terrace. Prior to his appointment at the Moore Foundation, he was a curator at the Tate Gallery from 1979 to 1987, and director of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh from 1987 to 2007.
